#WIPWednesday : Blogged

My, my how the time flies! I cannot believe that it's nearly the end of September and that I haven't blogged since August some time.

Xmas knitting has been pretty much my main focus for the past few months. I have plenty of yarn so I have no worries of running out. Just wish I had more time in every day to devote to actually getting things done. My biggest complaint is that I have work, then driving, then home. My weekends should be a time to go out and have a good time but my hours are usually spent getting projects done. And Vic wonders why all I do is knit! LOL

Well, at least I can say that I have more than half of my holiday knitting done. My dad and sister are definitely all set. As is Suzie. I have some friends that I want to make things for but I haven't figured out what I'm going to make. Being knitters themselves, it's hard to pick out that thing they wouldn't make but that you can make within a specific amount of time. It's like one of those verbal math problems that doesn't make any sense...

My Ashton shawlette is what I've got for today. Each row, though, is going to take a significant amount of time to get through. Here's hoping I get time to do so today. Ordered my wires for my sweater and I'm really hoping they just show up today. Even if they don't, the lovely Kristina will be letting me borrow hers! Need to get crackin' on those sleeves!!

Other WIP's: Vic's tie, TARDIS cowl (which may be getting frogged in favour of something else), Hitchhiker's shawl, James' hat (that's my CEO), REALLY want to cast on Bolting again...

Pictures? Nah. I post enough pictures to my stream. Or I would have to NOT do that and leave them for a blog post which is silly. And yes, Kristina, that was a split-infinitive, however, as a Latin scholar, I would argue that it's also tmesis and therefore wonderful. :)

#WIPWednesday - Blogged!

Just a quick update today as I need to actually get cracking on some work. After making two adult sized hats already this week, I needed to get back to Xmas knitting. Last night I picked up my lace shawl and sunk myself into my work. I was able to get another whole section repeat done and start the 3rd. Two more and then on to what will basically be the end.

Hats!:

<- This one went to Vic.

This one is going to the tattoo artist that will be inking me during the Boston Tattoo Convention->

The lace shawlette is a bit trying but if I focus, I'll get there:

And those hats are so easy and delicious, I'm making myself one too! Here are the colours:

Rather than all one, I'll make each repeat of the pattern alternate in colour. I've made this pattern three different times now so I understand the construction well enough to start experimenting.

Ok, that's it! Gotta get back to work now!

Take care, Yarnies!

#WIPWednesday: Blogged

Hey Yarnies!

I'm so excited for the things I get to talk about! In the past few days I've learned to dye yarn with Kool-Aid, knit an entire baby set and started other things... what else is new?! LOL.

The yarn dyeing was certainly the most fun! The #DDA had a blast and the results were amazing:

Ice Blue Lemonade!
The Outcome..
The one on the left is the nearly 400yds of Chroma (Bare) fingering weight floating in a pot of Ice Blue Lemonade Kool-Aid. I was hoping for something amazing and....

Then this happened->

WOW!!
Though wet, the colours were so amazing!!

After it dried, I was able to get it into a wound cake and you can really tell the variegation! I bound up the yarn with rubber bands in the pot of water which, like in tie dyeing, created the big white spots. I think the results are fantastic and I couldn't wait to cast something on with it.

Sooo...

I did. Of COURSE I did!

BEHOLD THE HITCHHIKER!

Ok, well, it's not all THAT impressive yet but look at the colours!! So soft and subtle. Loving the way that the blues are coming through.

The baby set I mentioned was started on Friday night. I finished the very last bit of the blanket yesterday morning. The hat & booties though were done by Saturday. They're for a coworker's baby boy that's due in October:

The blanket still needs to have the ends woven but I'll do that later...

Baby Dylan is going to be nice and warm!!

As for other WIP's, I've got my mom's tablecloth out again. After cranking out the baby set, I need to get back to Xmas knitting! I'm also going to make something to give to the tattoo artist that's doing my ink in September. Cannot wait for that!!

I need to get back to Ashton's shawlette too.. whew, I have a lot of work to do. Someone remind me that this is a "relaxing" hobby. HAHA. I jest. Honestly, I love the feeling of giving someone something handmade. It's special, it's unique. And I like the compliments, not going to lie. Makes me feel good and I know the recipient is sincere.

Take care, yarnies!!

New Post!

Well, it looks like Blogger hooked up with Google+ for a one night stand and got it on hot and heavy...

Ok, maybe not, but still. I thought I would post with the new "integration" enabled in Blogger and hopefully this post will see its way directly to Google+. Let's give this a whirl.

Hopefully this will post to the new HD.am.I page...

#WIPWednesday BLOGGED, and other updates!

Wow. I cannot even believe that I haven't "blogged" in more than a month. And I was doing so well! LOL.

Well, a lot has been accomplished since I last blogged. I've finished a lot of projects, started a lot more. You know, the usual. Also, if you take a look to the right, you'll notice that I'm selling things right through the blog! Google Checkout FTW!!

Without further ado, here's my current WIP's:

This is Vic's tie. It will be an Xmas present and he already knows about it (he picked the colours) so I'm not worried about him seeing it here. Besides, you know, I live with'im, so he's going to see me working on it anyway. I know it doesn't LOOK like a tie, but when it's done, you fold in the sides and the tip's edges to make the "tie" shape.

Next is the Ashton Shawlette. This will be my baby sister's xmas present. Her name is Ashton so I thought this would be appropriate. It's absolutely gorgeous and the yarn, heaven. This is my very first attempt and knitting with actual lace weight yarn and a lace pattern. Trust me, I'm taking my time...

Then we have the random project that is the "Corner to Corner" throw. This is going to be my next acrylic stash buster. The colours don't really make sense but I love them and they're fun. It's going to be HUGE!! This is going just be one of those ever-going kinda project that I'll be working on for a while when I need to give my eyes and hands a break.

Hmm...more? Of course.
I will point out that this is on my new set of KnitPicks Options interchangeable circulars! LOVE THEM!!
This is "Bolting" by Stephen West. The pattern is amazing and the impending final product with be massive and wonderful. I'm making it out of Malabrigo so apart from being huge, it will also be colossally squishy!

Ok, let's recap some FO's too...

Catherine's Wheel Blanket
Catherine's Wheel was going to be the stash buster, but as luck would have it, it became unweildly. Thus, I just finished it after more than a year. Vic got it as part of his birthday present. BTW, that's on a queen size bed. It's a pretty big blanket.
This is me rocking another Xmas present. This is a cowl I made for Suzie who requested a drop-stitch cowl. After going over some pattern ideas, I decided on making this out of a pattern for a shawl by Caron yarns. By joining the ends with a single twist, it became a Moebius cowl! Super simple and quick. I think she's going to love it.

MASSIVE Clapotis, 9 colours, 9 skeins of Artful Yarns Waterfall. This is MINE for sure. This winter I am SO rocking this all the time! I will mention, I'm 6'5", the total length of this thing is over 7'. Yup, pretty wonderful.

Then we have the Grrlfriend Market bag. This went to +Kim Tornatola in trade for the amazing rainbow cowl I'm wearing!!

And, last but not least, this is the Colour Affection shawl, done in chunky yarn. It's HUGE!! Going to my dad now that I've blocked and taken care of the ends.
Vic said he looked like a "tribal warrior". LOL.

#WIPWednesday : Blogged

Whew! It's been a couple of weeks huh?! I went on vacation, to Provincetown, and it was amazing. I have lots of pictures (for a later post) and I did a TON of knitting and reading and relaxing. That being said, here's my WIP's for right now:

CLAPOTIS!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this pattern and it works up SO amazingly!! I went on vacation having left off in the middle of the orange. I did the rest over the time I was on the beach. I don't even know if I'll block it at this point since I love the way it ripples up like that. And the yarn is "extra fine merino" and oh so VERY soft and cuddly. I have to finish the green (not much), then black and red are the last two sections with the red being all the decrease rows. It's gonna be EPIC.

COLOUR AFFECTION!! This is a fantastic pattern but I'm changing it up. I'm going with bulky yarn on size 11 needles and I'll just cut down the increases so that this shawl doesn't become a blanket! So far so good, it's working up beautifully. That's Cadet Blue for the MC and Bonfire for CC1. CC2 is Marsala (a burnt orange type colour). Also, yes, I realize that picture looks like a face. HAHA.

Those are my two main focuses (foci?) right now. My mom's tablecloth will become my second major project once the Clapotis is done. Then little projects. Speaking of which:

WASHCLOTHS!! I made all these on vacation. They're fun and easy and gave me a chance to burn through some cotton that was, well, just hanging around. Much like @Sara Marks and her collection of cotton that was just getting out of hand. Course, I did just pick up two skeins of "Dishie" from KnitPicks but whatever.

So that's about it kiddies!!
